Senior Buyer, Capital Projects

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Formulate category strategies, secure alignment with customers, and implement them effectively.

• Oversee designated sourcing projects through market analysis, the RFX process, negotiations, contract creation, and management.

• Act as a business partner to internal stakeholders by comprehending project requirements and delivering proactive, solution-focused procurement support.

• Champion cost-saving initiatives that align with the company's objectives.

• Analyze micro- and macro-economic factors and conduct financial assessments to uncover industry opportunities and devise risk-mitigation strategies.

• Identify and secure agreement on new savings and value-added opportunities.

• Calculate the total cost of ownership for acquired products and services.

• Comply with budgetary constraints.

• Assess supplier capabilities, cost structures, risks, and potential for partnerships.

• Lead projects at the executive level within Scotts and with supplier executives.

• Travel to job sites up to 25% of the time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Engineering, or a related business field.

• 4 to 7 years of relevant procurement experience.

• Demonstrated success in complex contract negotiation and comprehensive lifecycle management.

• Proficiency in financial analysis, cost model development, and project management.

• Strong executive presence with the capability to influence and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

• Proven track record of implementing innovative procurement concepts and driving change.

• Advanced computer skills, including SAP, Ariba, Google Workspace, and MS Office Suite.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strong analytical and reporting skills.

• Excellent organizational and project management capabilities.

• Inquisitive nature with a proactive approach to understanding project specifics.

• Capability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Experience with Engineering or Construction management teams is preferred.

• Familiarity with SAP is an added advantage.
