This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Identify, pursue, and secure new opportunities with shippers and carriers while cultivating a strong pipeline of qualified freight prospects.
• Establish and nurture strategic relationships with shippers, carriers, and logistics partners.
• Create and implement tailored freight brokerage strategies.
• Analyze freight market trends, carrier capacity, competitive landscape, and the needs of shippers.
• Manage and expand existing shipper accounts, identifying additional freight lanes, opportunities for service expansion, and cross-selling potential.
• Prepare and present proposals, rate quotes, and freight solutions.
• Collaborate with operations, dispatch, and compliance teams to guarantee efficient load matching, service delivery, and customer satisfaction.
• Monitor, track, and report on performance metrics, load volumes, freight margins, and business development results.
• Mentor and provide support to junior team members.
• Negotiate freight rates, service agreements, and contracts with carriers.
• Keep abreast of developments in the freight industry, regulatory changes, emerging opportunities, and competitive positioning.
• Over 5 years of professional experience in business development, sales, or account management within a B2B context.
• Proven success in building and expanding a book of business from initial prospecting to closure.
• Demonstrated capability to cultivate and sustain strong client and partner relationships across various industries.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, recognize trends, and make informed, data-driven decisions.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, able to clearly and persuasively convey value propositions.
• Self-driven with an entrepreneurial spirit, capable of working independently while achieving measurable results.
• Strategic thinker with experience in developing and executing business development plans.
• Proficient in CRM systems, sales tools, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Resilient and adaptable in navigating complex sales cycles and market challenges.
• Experience in leading teams, mentoring, or developing high-performing sales teams.
• Background in account or territory management with a proven record of revenue growth.
• Experience with market research, competitive analysis, and strategic positioning.
• Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
• Advanced experience in negotiation and contract management.
• Industry-specific experience in logistics, technology, or professional services is preferable.
• A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field is preferred.
