Senior Backend Software Engineer – Agentic AI Workflows, Go, AWS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain the AI engine responsible for suggesting metadata across the ongoing project portfolio.

• Refine AI-generated metadata proposals until they receive approval from engineers.

• Create automated processes to safely reassign ownership or retire systems that lack owners or have been relinquished.

• Compile a comprehensive inventory of agents and MCP servers within both production and endpoint environments.

• Provide programmatic access to the agent and MCP inventory through the platform API.

• Establish first-party product inventory and map critical user journeys.

• Refactor and phase out legacy code while ensuring existing functionality remains intact.

• Produce unit and integration tests for backend components that are deployed.

• Engage in sprint deliveries alongside program and customer teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in backend software engineering.

• Proficiency in Go as a working language; experience in developing and deploying scalable backend services and APIs.

• Expertise in PostgreSQL schema design and querying.

• Familiarity with MongoDB schema design and querying.

• Working knowledge of AWS services, client libraries, and APIs.

• Experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing agentic, AI-driven workflows.

• Background in asset discovery and ingestion tools, such as CloudQuery.

• Understanding of data classification standards, dependency mapping, and functional framework mapping.

• Capability to navigate extensive, unfamiliar codebases and refactor or phase out legacy code without regressing existing functionality.

• Experience in unit and integration testing for backend components.

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, including sprints, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience with IT asset management, CMDB, or configuration management platforms (preferable but not mandatory).

• Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) and related agent tooling patterns (preferable but not mandatory).

• Familiarity with governance, risk, or compliance workflows (preferable but not mandatory).
