Senior Backend Software Developer – Java, Spring Boot

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Slovakia.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design, development, and ongoing enhancement of backend services utilizing Java 17+ and Spring Boot.

• Define and advance microservices and REST APIs for the Charisma solution.

• Convert intricate business and customer requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Lead performance optimization, technical stabilization, and root-cause analysis for production services.

• Design data models and oversee PostgreSQL, SQL optimization, database migrations, and data consistency initiatives.

• Implement Domain-Driven Design, Event-Driven Architecture, Clean Architecture, and appropriate design patterns.

• Design, review, and document APIs utilizing OpenAPI/Swagger.

• Lead and support REST and TARDIS integrations.

• Define and enhance automated unit, integration, API, performance, and load testing strategies.

• Collaborate with Docker, Kubernetes, Git, and CI/CD to refine development, deployment, and operational practices.

• Enhance observability and troubleshooting using Prometheus, Grafana, LUMINA, OpenTelemetry, and logging tools.

• Work in partnership with frontend engineers, quality engineers, business experts, customers, and stakeholders.

• Offer technical guidance, conduct code reviews, provide mentoring, and deliver engineering support.

• Contribute to rollout activities, technical planning, risk identification, and ongoing improvement efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot, and the Spring Framework, particularly in production-grade enterprise applications.

• Strong proficiency in designing, developing, and operating microservices and REST APIs within complex system landscapes.

• Advanced expertise in PostgreSQL, SQL, data modeling, performance tuning, and database migration strategies.

• In-depth experience with Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, Spring Security, Spring Web, and Spring Validation.

• Solid understanding of DDD, Event-Driven Architecture, Clean Architecture, design patterns, and best practices in API design.

• Experience in making technical design decisions and articulating trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Familiarity with Maven or Gradle, including build, dependency, and release management.

• Strong background in automated testing using JUnit 5, Mockito, Testcontainers, and API testing tools.

• Proven track record in performance and load testing of large-scale applications.

• Practical production experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices.

• Strong grasp of observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting in production environments.

• Experience with REST-based integrations and TARDIS.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with customers, stakeholders, architects, delivery leads, and cross-functional teams.

• Capability to mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and advocate for engineering standards.

• Proficiency in English at a minimum B2 level.

• Nice to have: Experience with AWS and cloud-native application design, Kotlin, Reactive Programming/WebFlux, route optimization technologies, technical workshops, architectural documentation, technical roadmaps, and production readiness reviews.
