Senior Backend Engineer, Safety

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to implement product and business strategies while developing products and features.

• Participate in the entire development cycle, which encompasses technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and deployment.

• Evaluate code and design documentation, offering insights on product specifications and mockups.

• Lead a team of engineers effectively.

• Establish and clarify standards to enhance developer workflows and suggest best practices.

• Guide and mentor engineers to foster their professional growth.

• Spearhead technical and product strategy, operations, architecture, and execution within Reddit’s Safety and Moderation division.

• Persistently enhance both technical and non-technical skills.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–8 years of software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Go, Python, Rust, or Ruby.

• Familiarity with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, and the fundamentals of Thrift or gRPC.

• Capability to design and implement maintainable APIs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and maintain project timelines.

• A self-motivated, innovative, and action-oriented mindset in fast-paced settings.

• Proven experience in collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in a fully remote setting.

• Proficient in discussing complex subjects with both technical and non-technical audiences.
