This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and manage scalable backend services and APIs that drive LaunchDarkly’s Experimentation product.
• Take ownership of backend components through phases including technical discovery, design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, incident response, and ongoing enhancements.
• Create and advance systems that facilitate experiment setup, event data ingestion, metric computation, results processing, and presentation of findings.
• Contribute to architectural choices and technical proposals, ensuring a balance between scalability, reliability, performance, cost, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, data scientists, and engineering teams to convert customer needs and product objectives into dependable technical solutions.
• Work alongside the Data Platform, Warehouse Integrations, SDK, and other teams on shared data flows, services, and inter-team dependencies.
• Analyze complex production issues, pinpoint root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
• Enhance observability, testing, deployment safety, operational processes, and overall system reliability.
• Engage in the on-call rotation and take responsibility for production systems in a culture where you build it, you run it.
• Assist colleagues through code reviews, design evaluations, knowledge sharing, and informal mentoring.
• Over 6 years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial expertise in building and maintaining backend services in a production environment.
• Proficient in utilizing AI tools within software engineering workflows, including the ability to guide, assess, and validate AI-generated outputs.
• Proven experience in designing and delivering customer-facing systems that are scalable, reliable, observable, and maintainable.
• Strong programming skills in Go or a similar backend language such as Python, Rust, or C++. The team primarily uses Go.
• Background in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, data pipelines, APIs, data modeling, or data-intensive services.
• Knowledge of analytical, operational, or warehouse data stores like ClickHouse, Postgres, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Databricks, or similar technologies.
• Experience in diagnosing production issues and enhancing system reliability through metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and other observability practices.
• Familiarity with cloud environments and infrastructure-as-code or equivalent deployment and operations tools.
• Capability to navigate an ambiguous problem from discovery and scoping through design, implementation, launch, and ongoing operation.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset when working with both technical and non-technical partners.
• Experience with experimentation, A/B testing, analytics, data platforms, or other data-intensive products.
