Senior Backend Engineer – Databases, Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop, implement, test, and manage database components, encompassing data ingestion, query planning, distributed execution, data formats, and storage formats.

• Assist in defining and constructing a multi-tenant database service featuring tenant isolation, usage monitoring, quotas, audit logs, background jobs, and dependable service boundaries.

• Create APIs and database interfaces for AI agents, MCP tools, CLIs, and internal applications.

• Balance rapid experimentation with long-term reliability as the project transitions from prototype to production.

• Integrate metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards into database services.

• Utilize observability tools to analyze system performance and enhance reliability.

• Influence architecture, service boundaries, storage options, API contracts, deployment strategies, and engineering methodologies.

• Assume responsibility for scalable, maintainable database solutions that align with user workflows.

• Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Substantial experience in building production-quality, user-facing software systems.

• Understanding of AI technologies and frameworks.

• Proficient in distributed systems, catalogs and table formats, and query engines.

• Expertise in a programming language such as Golang, C++, or Rust.

• Demonstrated success in delivering software utilized by users in a production environment.

• Familiarity with cloud-native platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Experience employing observability tools to analyze and troubleshoot system behavior.

• Capability to work independently and make design decisions with minimal oversight.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity and define project scope.

• Experience in effective communication and collaboration across teams.
