Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and sustain scalable distributed backend systems that drive platform and product functionalities.

• Take full ownership of backend services, overseeing everything from architecture and implementation to monitoring and long-term reliability.

• Collaborate closely with product and engineering colleagues to influence product decisions.

• Define solutions with clients utilizing the API and translate requests into detailed proposals and implementation strategies.

• Develop and enhance backend components for Web3 platforms, including protocol integrations, support for new blockchain networks, and interactions with smart contracts.

• Maintain high standards of code quality, performance, security, and observability.

• Function efficiently in a dynamic startup atmosphere while balancing speed and accuracy.

• Leverage AI throughout the engineering workflow for designing, reviewing, debugging, and deployment.

• Participate in technical discussions, conduct code reviews, and provide mentorship.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in designing and building distributed backend systems.

• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns.

• Experience with containerized environments, including Docker and Kubernetes.

• Proficiency in SQL databases, particularly Postgres.

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB and Cassandra.

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools, including Sentry, Prometheus, and Grafana.

• Practical experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services).

• Proficient in Python 3.

• Comfortable experimenting with and integrating AI-assisted workflows into regular engineering tasks.

• Excellent knowledge of Golang is advantageous, but not mandatory.

• Practical Web3 experience is a plus.

• Being located in time zones close to Europe is an added advantage.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
