Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain clean, efficient, and scalable backend services utilizing Node.js and TypeScript.

• Collaborate with product managers and frontend engineers to create new product features from concept through deployment.

• Take ownership of critical components of the backend architecture, making decisions that enhance performance, reliability, and security.

• Produce thorough unit tests and perform code reviews.

• Recognize and implement system enhancements while refactoring legacy code.

• Mentor colleagues and share your engineering knowledge.

• Incorporate AI into daily tasks and identify opportunities for AI to streamline processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of backend development experience, ideally in a product-focused setting.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Node.js and contemporary frameworks like Koa or NestJS.

• Profound knowledge of TypeScript, including advanced typing and module systems.

• Strong experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.

• Familiar with event-driven architecture using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Bull/Redis.

• Practical experience with ClickHouse or similar analytics databases and Elasticsearch.

• Strong grasp of system design, clean architecture principles, and performance optimization techniques.

• Capability to work independently, take ownership, and successfully complete projects.

• Comfortable collaborating within a Russian-speaking team.

• Significant current use of AI in daily work.

• Previous experience in remote-first/global distributed teams, familiarity with performance monitoring and observability tools, interest in nonprofit technology, and hypothesis-driven communication are advantageous.
