Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cyprus.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain clean, efficient, and scalable backend services utilizing Node.js and TypeScript.

• Collaborate with product managers and frontend engineers to create new product features from initial concept to deployment.

• Take ownership of essential components of the backend architecture and make decisions that enhance performance, reliability, and security.

• Produce thorough unit tests and perform code reviews.

• Identify and implement improvements to systems, including refactoring legacy code.

• Mentor colleagues and share technical expertise.

• Actively incorporate AI into daily tasks and recognize opportunities for AI to enhance processes.

• Tackle complex problems within a high-load, distributed system.

• Develop and scale infrastructure capable of processing millions in donations.

• Engage in the checkout experience, donor portals, and analytics pipelines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of backend development experience, ideally in a product-focused environment.

• Strong practical experience with Node.js and contemporary frameworks such as Koa or NestJS.

• Extensive knowledge of TypeScript, including advanced typing and module systems.

• Solid expertise with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Bull/Redis.

• Practical experience with ClickHouse or similar analytics databases alongside Elasticsearch.

• Strong grasp of system design, clean architecture principles, and performance enhancement techniques.

• Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and see projects through to completion.

• Comfortable collaborating within a Russian-speaking team.

• Currently leveraging AI effectively in work and understanding its value addition.
