Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with the founders on both product and technical strategy.

• Develop and maintain the backend using Python and Django.

• Engage in light frontend tasks utilizing HTMX and occasional React components.

• Take full ownership of features from inception to completion, ensuring reliability post-release.

• Create APIs that drive the consumer dashboard and facilitate customer reporting.

• Enhance performance and reliability within Celery and RabbitMQ pipelines.

• Integrate external services such as Stripe and WorkOS SSO.

• Contribute to code reviews within a small backend development team.

• Start delivering impactful production work from the first week.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in building production web applications.

• More than 3 years of experience with Python and Django.

• Hands-on experience in production environments with Celery, RabbitMQ, and Redis.

• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, concurrency, SQL, and system design.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Ability to work asynchronously across different time zones.

• Self-motivated with strong follow-through capabilities.

• Highly desirable: Experience with DRF and/or django-ninja.

• Highly desirable: Expertise in Postgres tuning and query analysis.

• Highly desirable: Familiarity with Kubernetes and AWS.

• Highly desirable: Experience with Stripe, WorkOS SSO, or other third-party API integrations.

• Highly desirable: Proficiency in HTMX, React, or both.

• Highly desirable: Background in consumer privacy or related fields.

• Highly desirable: Experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code).
