Senior Backend Developer, TypeScript/Node.js

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

📋 Description

• Take charge of backend architecture for two extensive microservice platforms, comprising over 30 and 25 services.

• Spearhead intricate integrations with payment providers, card issuers, blockchain networks, and various third-party APIs.

• Enhance performance and scalability by identifying bottlenecks, implementing caching strategies, optimizing database queries, and managing load.

• Influence the technical direction through architectural decisions, evaluating trade-offs, and setting engineering standards.

• Develop and refine AI-driven processes to streamline operational and development workflows.

• Dedicate around 20% of your time to building React-based back-office admin dashboards.

• Manage features from inception to completion, encompassing planning, architectural design, implementation, testing, production monitoring, and iterative enhancements.

• Collaborate effectively with Product, QA, Frontend, Mobile, and cross-functional teams.

• Create technical documentation, engage in code reviews, and disseminate knowledge.

• Participate in a shared on-call rotation, approximately one week each month.

• Assist the Tech Lead by taking ownership of architectural and technical decisions.

• Drive complex integrations and help shape the technical direction of the platform.

• Achieve the delivery of initial production features within 30 days.

• Independently manage a complex integration or significant feature within 60 days.

• Make architectural decisions within scope and influence the technical direction within 90 days.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of production experience in backend development, primarily using TypeScript/Node.js.

• At least 2 years of experience with NestJS in a production environment, including modules, providers, middleware, guards, interceptors, and custom-transport microservice architecture.

• Extensive expertise in PostgreSQL, covering schema design, partial and GIN/GiST indexing, query optimization, zero-downtime migrations, and database-per-service patterns.

• Practical experience with microservices, focusing on inter-service communication, RPC, pub/sub, message brokers, idempotency, eventual consistency, saga patterns, and outbox patterns.

• Experience in system design, including service decomposition, API contracts, data-flow architecture, and capacity planning.

• Proven experience integrating third-party APIs, payment systems, or similar external services.

• Knowledge of retries, circuit breakers, graceful degradation, profiling, caching strategies, load analysis, and bottleneck identification.

• Must have production experience with blockchain, including on-chain transactions, multiple networks, real user funds, HD wallets, BIP32/BIP39, smart contracts, ABI, ERC-20/SPL tokens, account-based and UTXO models, and libraries like ethers.js, viem, and solana/web3.js.

• Must have experience in AI-driven development, including daily use of Claude, Copilot, or Cursor, and a track record of optimizing business or organizational processes with AI/LLMs.

• Strong testing discipline, utilizing Jest, integration tests with real databases, and microservice testing.

• Experience with security-conscious development in fintech and crypto environments.

• Technical research capabilities for assessing trade-offs, testing hypotheses, and making data-driven architectural decisions.

• Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level.

• Fluency in Russian is required.

• Nice to have: Experience with NATS JetStream, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, pino, distributed tracing, Kubernetes/Kustomize/Helm, fintech compliance, mentoring, and basic knowledge of React.
