This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and develop secure back-end services, RESTful APIs, and microservices that integrate with IRS digital platforms.
• Implement best practices for cloud-native applications within AWS and Kubernetes environments.
• Ensure adherence to IRS Publication 4812, NIST 800-53, and FISMA requirements.
• Collaborate with front-end engineers, DevOps teams, cybersecurity experts, product owners, technical leads, and IRS stakeholders.
• Refine user stories and convert them into functional back-end features.
• Support CI/CD processes utilizing Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and SonarQube.
• Execute automated testing and secure deployments.
• Conduct unit and integration testing, assisting in the development of automated test cases aimed at achieving over 90% code coverage for critical functionalities.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.
• Contribute to performance tuning, scalability testing, and capacity planning to meet IRS availability and load-performance standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust background investigation.
• Favorable Tier 2 – Moderate Risk Public Trust (SF-85P) investigation.
• Favorable suitability determination required prior to gaining staff-like access to IRS information systems.
• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
• Capability to obtain a government-issued security clearance.
• Over 7 years of experience in back-end development, including a minimum of 3 years in a senior or lead developer position.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments delivering iterative releases.
• Familiarity with AWS, FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST 800-53 standards.
• Proficiency in Jenkins, Git, SonarQube, NexusIQ, Selenium, and AppDynamics.
• Preferred: CompTIA Sec+ or equivalent baseline DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.
• Preferred: AWS Certified Developer – Associate or an equivalent cloud certification.
• Preferred: Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) or another Agile-related certification.
• Preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
• Preferred: Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) or a similar container-related certification.
• Preferred: Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) or a comparable secure software development credential.
• Ability to meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information.
• May undergo criminal history, employment and educational verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness investigations.
