Senior Back-end Engineer – PHP, commerce pillar

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Estonia, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Become a vital member of the dedicated Payments sub-team, serving as a crucial link between technology infrastructure and accounting and finance stakeholders.

• Assist with tax calculations, VAT processing, invoicing systems, and ensure the business is prepared for audits.

• Develop, enhance, and sustain robust back-end systems to ensure accurate, compliant financial data and smooth transactional workflows.

• Write and deploy high-quality, scalable code.

• Identify and rectify areas for improvement within the codebase.

• Collaborate closely with product managers and stakeholders, applying product-oriented thinking to technical decisions.

• Participate in code reviews, refactoring, testing, and pair programming.

• Take ownership of the design and execution of various initiatives.

• Propel prioritized bug fixes and enhancements to the platform.

• Attend or present at weekly knowledge-sharing sessions.

• Continuously enhance technical and soft skills through best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in English, both spoken and written.

• Over 5 years of experience in Backend development.

• Expertise in either PHP or Node.js, with a willingness to learn the other.

• Strong knowledge of high-load architecture, Distributed Systems, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and CQRS.

• Solid understanding of software engineering principles and best practices (SOLID, TDD, CI/CD, Agile).

• Comfortable using Claude as an LLM partner for conceptual thinking, architectural brainstorming, and code generation.

• Proficient in debugging, unit testing, and optimizing application performance.

• A product-minded approach, focusing on business impact to prioritize work over technical inclination.

• A strong sense of ownership.

• Practical experience utilizing LLMs and coding assistants to enhance software development workflows, including implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, and code quality.

• A resume must be submitted in English.
