This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain intricate Appian applications that support enterprise business processes and operational workflows.
• Lead efforts for the remediation, conversion, and modernization of custom Appian plugins.
• Analyze legacy plugin implementations and propose scalable modernization strategies.
• Troubleshoot complex issues related to Appian applications, integrations, custom plugins, and infrastructure dependencies.
• Collaborate with architects and technical leadership to formulate solution approaches, development standards, and modernization strategies.
• Support Appian platform upgrades and remediation across various environments, including development, testing, and production.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to development teams.
• Engage in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, code reviews, and implementation planning.
• Develop and maintain reusable components, shared frameworks, and integration standards.
• Facilitate integrations involving APIs, web services, databases, and external enterprise systems.
• Assist with performance optimization, scalability, and initiatives aimed at operational stability.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, QA teams, architects, and stakeholders.
• Assist with technical estimation, release planning, dependency management, and risk identification.
• Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of production or deployment issues.
• Promote continuous improvement across development workflows, delivery processes, and technical standards.
• Advocate for modernization strategies and identify opportunities to enhance maintainability, automation, and delivery efficiency.
• Stay updated on Appian updates, emerging technologies, and best practices for modernization.
• Facilitate knowledge-sharing and mentorship within the Appian practice.
• Provide insights on emerging Appian AI capabilities and assist leadership in evaluating modernization opportunities.
• A minimum of 6 years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in Appian development.
• Minimum of 4 years supporting Appian application development in Agile software delivery environments.
• At least 4 years of experience troubleshooting and supporting Appian applications in self-managed/on-premises Linux environments, including navigating Appian installations and reviewing application and server logs.
• A minimum of 4 years supporting complex integrations involving APIs, web services, databases, and external systems.
• At least 4 years of experience utilizing Git/GitLab and modern source control practices.
• US Citizenship or Green Card is required.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance is necessary.
• Must reside in the United States and perform work within the United States.
• Appian Certified Senior Developer or Appian Certified Lead Developer certification is preferred.
• Strong experience in developing, maintaining, or modernizing custom Appian plugins using Java is preferred.
• Solid proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts is preferred.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized deployment approaches is preferred.
• Experience supporting AWS-hosted or cloud-native application environments is preferred.
• Strong experience with REST/SOAP integrations, API development, and enterprise integration patterns is preferred.
• Exposure to Appian AI capabilities, AI Skills, AI Copilot, AI Document Processing, AI Agents, or other emerging features of the Appian platform is preferred.
