This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +21 more states.
β’ Take ownership of the interface between the data platform and the business, encompassing models, metrics, and dashboards.
β’ Design and develop dbt staging, intermediate, and mart models incorporating incremental logic, tests, and comprehensive documentation.
β’ Implement dimensional modeling and grain discipline to generate accurate, efficient, and reusable models.
β’ Establish core business metrics as reliable sources of truth.
β’ Categorize sensitive data, ensure lineage and documentation are maintained, and set model-level data quality expectations.
β’ Create and sustain the semantic layer linking marts and dashboards.
β’ Collaborate with the business to harmonize conflicting metric definitions.
β’ Develop dashboards and reporting in Omni utilizing well-structured data.
β’ Oversee row-level security, performance, and access in a regulated, multi-tenant environment.
β’ Convert ambiguous business inquiries into modeled metrics and practical dashboards.
β’ Investigate dashboard or reconciliation issues through the BI layer, models, and source data to identify root causes.
β’ Set conventions for analytics structure, testing, deployment, project layout, CI/CD, and the logic between dbt and BI.
β’ Evaluate analytics work and refine modeling and BI practices.
β’ Disseminate knowledge through code reviews, collaborative work, and documentation.
β’ 7β9+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI, with significant hands-on experience in the modeling and reporting layer.
β’ Extensive dbt knowledge: project design, incremental models, tests, macros, exposures, and thorough documentation.
β’ Proficient in dimensional and semantic modeling, including design, grain decisions, metric definition, and establishing a reusable single source of truth.
β’ Advanced SQL skills and proficiency with a cloud warehouse like Snowflake or a similar platform.
β’ Strong BI/dashboarding capabilities in tools such as Omni, Looker, Power BI, Tableau, or similar, with expertise in row-level security and performance optimization.
β’ Clear project organization and conventions, robust Git and CI/CD practices, and sound judgment regarding logic placement across dbt and BI layers.
β’ Ability to interpret ambiguous business questions and convert them into modeled metrics and clear dashboards.
β’ Excellent communication skills with non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
β’ Quick, iterative working style; adaptability to ambiguity and commitment to enhancing existing systems.
β’ Nice to have: experience in regulated industries and familiarity with sensitive or PHI data.
