This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
β’ Oversee the design and implementation of machine learning applications within IQVIA's product line, with an emphasis on generative AI and large language model (LLM) solutions.
β’ Provide practical technical leadership, offering guidance on architecture and establishing coding standards.
β’ Advocate for software engineering best practices, emphasizing code reusability, shared libraries, user experience-focused design, and ongoing enhancement.
β’ Convert machine learning research insights on human data into functional prototypes.
β’ Assist teams in developing and training production-quality algorithms capable of handling complex, high-dimensional datasets.
β’ Investigate current and emerging industry tools, techniques, and algorithms, sharing insights with colleagues.
β’ Collaborate with stakeholders, product managers, engineering managers, data scientists, and engineers to translate technical and business considerations into strategic and tactical decisions.
β’ Provide support to multiple scrum teams across the entire product portfolio.
β’ Act as a consultant or solution Machine Learning Engineer for external clients.
β’ Prepare and submit articles for conferences and journals.
β’ Mentor and guide junior team members.
β’ Knowledge of traditional machine learning algorithms (such as classification and regression) and MLOps practices.
β’ Proven experience in building, testing, measuring, and deploying machine learning models in a production environment.
β’ Background in LLM engineering, including the fine-tuning of foundation models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, prompt engineering, and evaluation frameworks for LLMs.
β’ Expertise in developing generative AI applications, including multimodal AI, vector databases, embedding models, context window optimization, and token management.
β’ Previous experience leading engineering projects.
β’ Proficient in Python, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, Numpy, and Scipy.
β’ Skilled in SQL and command-line tools for Linux/Mac.
β’ Familiar with the agile software development lifecycle, including SCRUM and Kanban methodologies.
β’ Experience in owning, maintaining, and enhancing software data products.
β’ Strong knowledge of software development best practices, as well as testing, continuous integration, and DevOps tools.
β’ Experience in mentoring and training junior team members, particularly through pair programming.
β’ A degree in a STEM-related field (Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate).
β’ 5β8 years of experience in creating machine learning algorithms for production use.
β’ Preferred qualifications include advanced knowledge of LLM infrastructure, responsible AI, emerging architectures, model distillation, clinical/regulated data, healthcare LLMs, cloud systems, Docker, handling large datasets, understanding the product development lifecycle, CI/CD, biostatistics/life sciences/healthcare technology, familiarity with UX principles, and management training.
