Senior Analyst – Actuary

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of contract modeling for MA, Medicaid, and Commercial business sectors.

• Develop intricate deal models to facilitate contract negotiations with health plans.

• Utilize data and analytics to enhance the financial and operational performance of health plan contracts.

• Monitor, analyze, forecast, and report on the financial implications of payer contracts.

• Establish analytical frameworks, reports, and dashboards to evaluate payer financial performance.

• Investigate legislation, market share, Star Ratings, bid strategies, and reimbursement trends.

• Perform analyses related to benchmarking, contract optimization, investor relations, and risk adjustment.

• Collaborate with teams in Reserving, Analytics, Data, Finance, M&A, Contracting, Medical Economics, and Operations.

• Report directly to the Senior Manager, Actuary.

⛳️ Requirements

• FSA or ASA credentials, or nearing attainment of ASA credentials.

• More than 3 years of experience in actuarial positions.

• Over 1 year of experience in VBC or VBC-related roles.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Intermediate understanding of SQL.

• Strong desire and capability to create actuarial models from the ground up.

• Comfortable working within a small team in a fast-paced setting.

• Familiarity with health plan reimbursement methodologies (preferred).

• Experience on the provider side of healthcare (preferred).

• Knowledge of Medicare Advantage bid mechanics (preferred).

• Experience in risk adjustment (preferred).

• Familiarity with the California healthcare market (preferred).

• Understanding of the actuarial continuum, including pricing/forecasting and valuation/reserving (preferred).
