This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Oversee 1-3 team members while fostering their professional growth.
• Engage in the interviewing, hiring, and onboarding processes for new team members.
• Mentor and enhance the skills of Propeller accountants through work evaluations, constructive feedback, training, and diverse experiences.
• Distribute and assign tasks among team members.
• Collaborate with peers to implement and integrate new operational processes.
• Supervise weekly and monthly accounting and bookkeeping activities.
• Direct the month-end closing process for a portfolio of clients, including reconciliations and supporting documentation.
• Generate monthly consolidated financial statements and emphasize industry-specific key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Create reports, value-added analyses, and metrics to provide financial insights for clients.
• Manage general accounting processes, optimize workflows, review reconciliations, address issues, and ensure accurate deliverables.
• Develop, document, and uphold scalable standard operating procedures with robust controls.
• Lead the development and instruction of complex accounting processes.
• Educate client teams and internal staff on best practices in accounting and inventory management.
• Monitor and assist with state and local tax filings.
• Identify inventory accounting strategies and systems that meet client requirements and comply with GAAP standards.
• Guide the selection and implementation of inventory management systems.
• Establish monthly reconciliation procedures for inventory across various systems and software.
• Detect inefficiencies in inventory and opportunities for cost reduction or variance minimization.
• Address inventory discrepancies and propose effective solutions.
• Provide exceptional client service across multiple industries.
• Manage client relationships and act as the primary contact for all accounting and inventory-related inquiries.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in operational accounting.
• Proven experience in building, managing, and developing a team.
• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Familiarity with the consulting business model and tools within a multi-client setting.
• A strong enthusiasm for leveraging systems and driving process enhancements.
• Experience in full close-cycle accounting.
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
• In-depth knowledge of cost accounting, with proven experience or ambition to become an expert in inventory accounting.
• Comprehensive understanding of inventory and supply chain processes.
• Experience with inventory management systems (IMS), particularly Cin7, Dear, QBE, Netsuite, and Fishbowl.
• Advanced working knowledge of Excel.
