Senior Manager, Clinical Supply Chain

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Oversee all facets of supply management, encompassing planning, sourcing, logistics, and supplier relations for commercial and late-stage clinical products.

• Formulate and sustain demand forecasts for pharmaceutical products by analyzing market trends, promotional efforts, and regulatory factors.

• Keep up-to-date market intelligence and optimize business processes and systems.

• Partner with commercial, marketing, and finance teams to facilitate product launches and manage lifecycle forecasts.

• Track forecast accuracy and promote continuous improvement using advanced analytics.

• Utilize data analytics to aid in decision-making and governance discussions.

• Develop and implement supply plans that align with demand forecasts, production capabilities, and inventory objectives.

• Recognize and address supply risks, such as capacity limitations, supplier compliance challenges, and regulatory delays.

• Act as a Strategic Business Relationship Manager, overseeing suppliers and contract manufacturing partners.

• Manage work orders, purchase orders, financial commitments, and legal agreements in line with the delegation of authority matrix.

• Facilitate strategic meetings with contract manufacturing partners.

• Direct cross-functional teams that handle critical suppliers.

• Engage with Supply Chain inputs and initiatives to develop and execute product strategies.

• Make data-driven decisions regarding process ownership and risk management; escalate issues to management clearly and factually.

• Lead or assist in supply chain initiatives involving planning software, ERP usage, product strategy, logistics, and associated systems and processes.

• Collaborate with R&D, Clinical Operations, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, CMC, Commercial, and Quality to support the commercialization of clinical product candidates.

• Contribute to the Sales & Operations Planning process.

• Prepare and participate in Supply Chain Governance meetings.

• Create cost-effective supply chain systems and procedures.

• Assess potential suppliers and provide recommendations to management.

• Assist in global supply chain business initiatives.

• Drive the adoption of best practices throughout the supply and distribution organization.

• Ensure that all activities and operations comply with regulations and stay within budget.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, or a related field is required.

• At least 8–12 years of relevant experience in supply chain planning/management within the biotech or pharmaceutical sector, or 6–8 years if holding a Master's degree.

• A minimum of 3–5 years of experience with ERP systems, forecasting tools, and advanced Excel proficiency.

• Capability to cultivate collaborative relationships with SMP and other essential global partners.

• Experience in managing strategic global supply chains and supplier relationships.

• Proficient in managing regulatory and technical changes while evaluating business and financial implications.

• Strong negotiation capabilities and proven experience interacting with suppliers, as well as external and internal customers.

• Solid financial acumen and budgeting experience.

• Effective influencing and communication skills.

• Extensive experience in supply chain and distribution management within a pharmaceutical or FDA-regulated environment.

• Proficient in ERP software, particularly in end-to-end planning, purchasing, and inventory management processes.

• Comprehensive understanding of regulatory and technical factors and the ability to evaluate their business and financial impacts.

• Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with suppliers, internal customers, and upper management.

• Data-driven decision-making and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills; detail-oriented with a commitment to precision.

• In-depth knowledge of GMP manufacturing, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, budget planning, and financial and commercial operations for biological and small molecule pharmaceuticals.

• Proven ability to lead process improvement initiatives and deliver business processes or technical solutions that meet the needs of multiple stakeholders.

• Interest and knowledge in supply chain optimization and simulation.

• High level of organizational awareness and understanding of interdependencies within the broader business context.
