This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee essential month-end and year-end closing activities, encompassing journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.

• Administer the complete accounts payable cycle, which includes vendor invoice coding, approvals, and payment processing.

• Prepare and assess revenue recognition entries, focusing on deferred revenue.

• Manage and reconcile prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and various balance sheet schedules.

• Ensure compliance by maintaining the separation of trust and operating accounts according to regulatory standards and internal policies.

• Assist in financial exposure reporting related to payment losses, chargebacks, and disputes.

• Monitor foreign exchange risk across multi-currency entities and aid in hedging documentation.

• Develop and enhance internal controls throughout accounting processes.

• Contribute to year-end audits, SR&ED submissions, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.

• Ensure adherence to ASPE/IFRS standards and keep accounting policies updated.

• Identify control weaknesses and assist in remediation initiatives.

• Support North American payroll operations, including payroll accounting and reconciliations.

• Enhance and maintain the accounting technology stack, including Xero and Plooto.

• Collaborate with Business Intelligence and Engineering to automate reconciliations, reporting, and closing processes.

• Contribute to the FinOps best-practices group and optimize variable usage-based costs.

• Work alongside FP&A on both internal and investor reporting.

• Serve as a primary contact for external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and payment processors.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.

• CPA designation or currently pursuing CPA completion.

• Robust technical accounting expertise with a focus on financial accounting and audit support.

• In-depth knowledge of ASPE and IFRS standards.

• Preferred experience in technology or payments SaaS.

• Strong analytical capabilities and keen attention to detail.

• Proven interest in process enhancement, automation, and scalable finance operations.

• Ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments with changing priorities.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Natural problem-solver who excels in a fast-paced, high-growth setting.

• Interest in AI, automation tools, or contemporary finance technology is considered a plus.
