Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of designated journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and related schedules for month-end closing.

• Ensure that account balances are backed by appropriate documentation and address reconciling items in a timely manner.

• Generate close-related reports and analyses that clarify account activity, trends, fluctuations, and discrepancies.

• Prepare internal reporting packages, conduct monthly results analyses, handle regulatory filings, and create supporting schedules.

• Conduct trend and fluctuation analyses utilizing business judgment, materiality considerations, and account-specific expertise.

• Investigate discrepancies and complex accounting challenges, produce correcting entries, and suggest enhancements.

• Provide auditors with necessary schedules, supporting documents, and responses to audit inquiries.

• Maintain reconciliations, desk-level procedures, and process documentation.

• Collaborate with internal departments and IT to address system interface and data integrity challenges.

• Assist in root-cause analysis and implement sustainable process enhancements.

• Keep management updated on potential issues, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.

• Support strategic initiatives, new product launches, system implementations, and process modifications.

• Work in partnership with accounting team members and business associates to ensure precise financial reporting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or High School Diploma/GED accompanied by 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an accounting specialty, such as tax, accounting, and/or financial analytics.

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP.

• Experience applying accounting principles to journal entries, reconciliations, fluctuation analyses, accruals, and financial reporting outputs.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Ability to independently identify, analyze, and resolve intricate accounting issues.

• Capacity to work effectively amidst ambiguity and quickly learn new concepts.

• Proficient in translating process and system changes into desk-level procedures and ensuring consistent execution.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Experience with regulatory reporting is preferred.

• Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, or other relevant certifications are preferred.

• Experience with ERP systems is preferred.
