Secondary Systems Engineer – Substations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Manage tenders from transmission system operators concerning protection and secondary systems in high- and extra-high-voltage substations.

• Design protection systems for 220 kV and 380 kV installations in alignment with relevant standards and operational safety protocols.

• Create protection concepts including distance protection, differential protection, and breaker-failure logic.

• Parameterize Siemens SIPROTEC protection relays and ensure consistent device settings.

• Engage in technical discussions with transmission system operators, planners, customers, and internal teams.

• Develop protection diagrams, logic matrices, deviation lists, and technical specifications.

• Create and review FAT and SAT test plans for factory acceptance and commissioning tests.

• Assist in protection testing and contribute to fault analysis and commissioning processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A completed degree in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.

• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of protection relays such as Siemens SIPROTEC (7SA6, 7SD6, 7UT6, 7SJ6), ABB RELION, or GE MiCOM.

• Proficient in ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or PSS/E software.

• Skilled in parameterizing protection devices using DIGSI 5/6 or ABB PCM600.

• Experience with OMICRON Test Universe (CMC, CMControl) or Doble F6150.

• Familiarity with IEC 61850, IEC 60255, VDE 0101/0102, and ENTSO-E guidelines.

• Capable of precise technical documentation using AutoCAD, EPLAN, or MS Visio.

• Comprehensive understanding of protection engineering, grid operational procedures, and secondary systems.

• Willingness to occasionally travel to test facilities, customer locations, or construction sites.

• Fluency in both German and English.
