This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design and uphold the architecture of a Playwright-based test framework, which encompasses page object patterns, test data management, and continuous integration (CI) integration.
• Establish a testability contract with developers, incorporating data-testid standards and API test hooks, while promoting a testable architecture during design and code reviews.
• Oversee the testing strategy across the pyramid, ensuring adequate unit, integration, and end-to-end (E2E) coverage.
• Develop and sustain tiered CI pipelines: smoke tests on deployment, nightly regression tests, and full suite tests on a weekly basis.
• Automate flows critical to revenue and marketing, including checkout processes, registration, analytics/tracking, and SEO validation.
• Create production monitoring tests to verify the availability of systems and vendors, including Stripe, Calendly, and fulfillment integrations.
• Identify, triage, and document bugs with comprehensive reproduction steps and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer support teams to review requirements and provide early insights on testability and associated risks.
• Report directly to the Director of Quality Assurance.
• At least 5 years of experience in a software engineering or Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) role, with a solid foundation in programming.
• Practical experience in building test frameworks from the ground up; Playwright is preferred, while Cypress or similar frameworks are also acceptable.
• Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Experience in designing CI/CD test pipelines, utilizing tools such as GitHub Actions or CircleCI.
• A comprehensive understanding of the testing pyramid and experience in positioning tests at the appropriate level.
• Proven experience in collaborating with developers on testability standards, data-testid contracts, API test hooks, and code reviews for test coverage.
• Familiarity with API testing, network-layer assertions, and the mocking/stubbing of third-party integrations.
• Experience in mobile test automation using Maestro or Appium is a plus.
• Knowledge of monitoring, availability testing, or practices related to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is an advantage.
• Competitive salary range between $85K - $110K CAD.
