Scientist, Electrical Engineer – ODA Unit Member

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Evaluate modifications and repairs to aircraft conducted by L3Harris and provide approvals on behalf of the FAA when appropriate.

• Assess the electrical components of military aircraft modifications and repairs for adherence to military airworthiness certification standards and offer approval recommendations.

• Serve as the ODA Task Leader for projects, monitoring certification progress, timelines, budgets, and resolving issues.

• Facilitate strategic coordination with customers and applicants.

• Assist Unit Members, applicant teams, customers, and vendors in navigating complex certification processes.

• Contribute insights on new procedures and standards for demonstrating and achieving compliance across various programs.

• Mentor Unit Member candidates who are seeking FAA delegations.

• Collaborate with customers and program offices to guarantee that aircraft meet FAA certification and safety standards.

• Oversee ODA and airworthiness programs as necessary.

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in electrical aircraft.

• Graduate degree with at least ten (10) years of experience in electrical aircraft.

• Alternatively, a minimum of sixteen (16) years of experience in aircraft electrical systems in lieu of a degree.

• A minimum of eight years of existing 14 CFR Part 23 or Part 25 FAA delegations (DER or ODA UM).

• FAA ODA Unit Member status is mandatory.

• Must successfully pass an FAA Class III flight physical.

• U.S. Citizenship is required.

• Proficient in MS Office applications.

• Ability to work overtime and travel up to 20% as necessary.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoW Secret Clearance.

• Knowledge of FAA Order 8110.101 Type Certification for Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft.

• Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516 military airworthiness certification standards.

• Experience in safety analysis, lightning, or EWIS approvals.
