Electrical Engineer IV – Substation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more locations.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the creation and evaluation of equipment layouts, grounding systems, bus configurations, conductor and cable schedules, as well as general arrangement drawings.

• Conduct and supervise grounding analysis, cable sizing, voltage drop, fault current, and equipment ratings calculations.

• Oversee equipment selection, develop specifications, and review vendor drawings.

• Prepare, assess, and authorize design packages and technical documentation.

• Collaborate with engineering, design, and project management teams.

• Carry out and oversee quality control assessments for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

• Manage several projects while adhering to scope, schedule, and budget constraints.

• Ensure all designs align with IEEE, NEC, NESC, and ANSI standards.

• Engage with clients to resolve technical challenges and present engineering solutions.

• Assist in proposal development, scope definition, and project planning.

• Execute site visits and field inspections while providing construction support as necessary.

• Mentor junior personnel.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or a related discipline.

• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in power delivery, renewable energy, or power generation.

• Proven experience in leading substation design projects and mentoring junior staff.

• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and electrical analysis software such as ETAP, CYME, SKM, and PSCAD.

• Strong understanding of IEEE, NESC, NEC, and ANSI codes and standards.

• Experience with PVcase and PVCAD is advantageous.

• Familiarity with utility-scale wind and solar projects, including MV power systems and AC/DC distribution systems, is a plus.

• Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems is an advantage.

• Manufacturer experience with power transformers, circuit breakers, AIS/GIS switchgear, AC/DC inverters, etc.

• Capability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

• A Master’s degree is preferred.
