This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
β’ Analyze electrical incidents within the plant by utilizing relay records, COMTRADE files, and plant reports; determine root causes and suggest corrective measures.
β’ Offer technical assistance to operational sites during electrical incidents, including identifying faults and providing recommendations for protective relaying.
β’ Create and review relay settings, enhancements to protection systems, and designs for third-party protection and control.
β’ Conduct short-circuit, load-flow, coordination, and arc-flash analyses using ETAP or similar software.
β’ Carry out arc-flash hazard assessments and contribute to electrical safety and mitigation efforts.
β’ Evaluate switching, isolation, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols.
β’ Assist in maintenance and reliability initiatives for transformers, circuit breakers, substations, and electrical distribution networks.
β’ Assess maintenance and testing outcomes for equipment and offer recommendations.
β’ Aid in troubleshooting issues related to transformers, relays, breakers, and various electrical apparatus.
β’ Execute and assist with NERC PRC, MOD, and FAC compliance studies, testing, reporting, and audits.
β’ Support NERC RFIs, self-certifications, periodic data submissions, and regulatory inspections.
β’ Contribute electrical engineering expertise for new developments and M&A activities, including technical evaluations and operational risk assessments.
β’ Facilitate root-cause analysis, risk assessments, engineering methodologies, procedures, and tools.
β’ Provide on-site assistance during outages and electrical events when required.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Electrical Engineering.
β’ Over 4 years of relevant experience in power generation, transmission, and/or distribution.
β’ Preference for candidates with utility-scale and renewable generation experience.
β’ PE license is preferred; candidates without a PE should possess at least 5 years of practical engineering experience.
β’ Proficient understanding of system protection, arc flash, electrical safety, maintenance/reliability, and NERC compliance.
β’ Experience in conducting power system studies using ETAP, SKM Power Tools, EasyPower, or similar software.
β’ Familiarity with protective relaying, relay configurations, settings, and event-record analysis.
β’ Strong grasp of NERC reliability standards, particularly PRC, MOD, and FAC requirements.
β’ Experience in supporting NERC audits, RFIs, self-certifications, and regulatory submissions.
β’ In-depth knowledge of electrical equipment, controls, and protection systems within power plants.
