This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Spearhead the design and development of intricate electrical systems, encompassing mixed-signal PCBs, embedded controllers, and custom sensor interfaces.
• Design low-power, high-reliability solutions tailored for rugged and space-constrained environments.
• Establish electrical specifications and validate hardware performance against functional, thermal, and EMI/EMC criteria.
• Integrate embedded processors, FPGAs, sensors, and power subsystems within multifunctional platforms.
• Collaborate closely with software teams on hardware and firmware communication.
• Oversee electrical design projects from initial requirements to production release.
• Offer technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and interns.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and trade studies.
• Create test procedures and lead lab validation efforts, including thermal, vibration, and environmental testing.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective measures.
• Work with vendors on PCB fabrication, assembly, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Manage component obsolescence and lifecycle planning.
• Assess and recommend new components, tools, and methods to enhance performance, cost, and manufacturability.
• Mentor colleagues and remain engaged with emerging technologies in electronics, embedded systems, and AI applications.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 7-9 years of pertinent experience.
• Demonstrated experience in product development, including collaboration with outsource design and development partners.
• Proficiency in embedded computing platforms with constraints related to size, weight, and power (SWaP).
• Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, and MIPI, along with various MCU, CPU, and FPGA technologies.
• Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary analog and digital electronics, electronic circuits, and design methodologies.
• Skilled in electronic CAD tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Exceptional multitasking skills and the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.
• ITAR eligibility: U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or qualified to obtain necessary authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
