Scala Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee and enhance existing features on the software platform.

• Implement software engineering principles throughout the software design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation processes.

• Ensure that the software developed adheres to security and safety standards regarding information security and personal data.

• Actively engage in meetings and project-related activities.

• Collaborate effectively with team members.

• Pursue ongoing professional development and stay updated on industry advancements.

• Clearly document work for future reference and understanding.

• Take part in Agile rituals and practices as a member of the technical team.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience in developing Scala-based backend systems.

• Extensive experience in Scala development and building software from the ground up.

• Demonstrated proficiency in functional programming principles.

• Practical experience with the Typelevel stack, particularly Cats and Cats Effect.

• Experience with microservices and AWS is highly desirable.

• Commitment to software quality and scalability.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Currently residing in Portugal, South Africa, or Kenya.

• Capability to engage in Agile rituals and practices.
