SAP TM Hazmat Functional Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Act as a functional subject matter authority for SAP HAZMAT and Dangerous Goods-related business processes within SAP S/4HANA.

• Evaluate customer and program needs concerning hazardous material identification, classification, storage, handling, movement, transportation, and reporting.

• Assist with the configuration and functional design of SAP features utilized for managing hazardous and regulated materials.

• Sustain and authenticate HAZMAT-related master data, classifications, attributes, and regulatory information.

• Facilitate the integration of HAZMAT requirements across SAP MM, TM, EWM, SD, and other logistics processes.

• Assist in Dangerous Goods Management processes for the transportation and shipment of regulated materials.

• Embed HAZMAT requirements into workflows for material movement, shipping, receiving, warehousing, and transportation.

• Convert operational and regulatory requirements into SAP functional requirements and system solutions.

• Create functional specifications, process flows, configuration documentation, business requirements, and system design documents.

• Identify functional deficiencies and suggest SAP-standard solutions, configuration adjustments, enhancements, or process optimizations.

• Aid in data migration, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation for hazardous material data.

• Engage in SIT, UAT, regression testing, and defect resolution activities.

• Develop testing scenarios and confirm end-to-end HAZMAT processes across integrated SAP modules.

• Diagnose functional issues and collaborate with technical development, integration, security, and infrastructure teams.

• Ensure compliance with federal, DoD, transportation, environmental, and hazardous material regulations and policies.

• Contribute to standard operating procedures, training materials, job aids, and end-user documentation.

• Participate in workshops, design sessions, demonstrations, and customer working groups for implementation and ongoing enhancement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in supporting SAP functional implementations, sustainment, or modernization initiatives.

• Functional expertise in hazardous materials, Dangerous Goods, regulated materials, or environmental health and safety processes within SAP.

• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA and/or associated SAP logistics features.

• Understanding of material master data and its relationship to logistics, warehousing, transportation, and supply chain operations.

• Experience in gathering business requirements and translating them into SAP functional designs and system configurations.

• Background in supporting functional testing, defect management, and system implementation processes.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to troubleshoot complex cross-functional SAP processes.

• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with functional, technical, business, and customer stakeholders.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the capacity to develop clear functional and technical documentation.

• Willingness to travel 10% every 12 weeks to Scott Air Force Base.

• Secret clearance is mandatory.

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Dangerous Goods Management and/or SAP Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) capabilities.

• Experience in integrating HAZMAT processes with SAP TM, MM, EWM, SD, or other logistics modules.

• Knowledge of hazardous material classification, labeling, packaging, storage, shipping, and transportation requirements.

• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing hazardous materials and Dangerous Goods transportation.

• Experience in supporting SAP data migration or master data management activities related to regulated materials.

• Previous experience with DoD, USTRANSCOM, federal logistics, or other large-scale government SAP programs.

• Experience working within Agile/Scrum or scaled Agile delivery environments.

• Proficient understanding of SAP S/4HANA, SAP Dangerous Goods Management, SAP EHS / Product Compliance, SAP MM, SAP TM, SAP EWM, SAP SD, material master and HAZMAT master data, Dangerous Goods classification and determination, transportation and shipment documentation, HAZMAT labeling and regulatory information, data migration and validation, SAP functional configuration, functional and integration testing, requirements analysis, and process documentation.

• SAP certification in a relevant functional area is preferred but not mandatory.
