Sales Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Provide direct pricing and design assistance to both internal and external clients on design/build and publicly bid initiatives.

• Utilize knowledge of structures, materials, and construction methodologies to support Field Sales and Estimators.

• Prepare calculations and engineering details based on contract drawings, specifications, and addendums.

• Employ in-house pricing software and additional design programs.

• Create designs that comply with code requirements and manufacturing limitations.

• Advise Builders, Field Sales, and Estimators on building codes, intricate framing scenarios, and non-standard geometries.

• Identify exclusions, discrepancies, and missing information; seek clarification and validate quotations.

• Analyze customer information for cost-effective value-engineering solutions.

• Utilize up-to-date pricing information when generating estimates.

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with Builders and Vendors.

• Educate Builder Network and Field Sales on the in-house pricing tool.

• Convey scope and design-intent clarifications to Builders, Sales, Customer Service, and Engineering.

• Execute and/or verify intricate estimates.

• Review Estimator design work.

• Train and mentor junior Sales Engineers and Estimators.

• Provide initial designs for Requests for Building Modifications (RBMs).

• Act as an engineering consultant representing the company in sales meetings.

• Report to the Estimating Manager.

• Continuously enhance productivity, accuracy, and engineering expertise.

• Travel is typically required less than twice a year.

• Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple workflows concurrently.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and project specifications.

• Comfort in communicating via phone with customers and Field Sales representatives.

• Familiarity with in-house design programs and procedures.

• Knowledge of PEMB product offerings and design considerations.

• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage projects to ensure timely completion.

• Review design work performed by Estimators.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in metal building design or a related field.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or architectural engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with a major focus on structural design, or equivalent work experience.

• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.

• AutoCAD experience is preferred.

• A Licensed Professional Engineer is required for Level I and Level III; preferred for Level II.

• At least 4 years of metal building design experience or related field for Level II.

• At least 10 years of metal building design experience or related field for Level I/Level III.

• Advanced PEMB knowledge required for Level II.

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
