Sales Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Offer direct pricing and design assistance to both internal and external clients for design/build and publicly bid projects.

• Utilize knowledge of structures, materials, and construction techniques to assist Field Sales and Estimators.

• Create calculations and engineering details based on contract drawings, specifications, and addendums.

• Employ in-house pricing programs and additional design software.

• Deliver precise designs that adhere to code requirements and manufacturing limitations.

• Advise Builders, Field Sales, and Estimators on building codes, intricate framing situations, and non-standard geometries.

• Recognize exclusions, inconsistencies, and missing data; seek clarification and qualify quotations.

• Assess customer information to develop cost-effective value-engineering solutions.

• Utilize current pricing data while preparing estimates.

• Cultivate and sustain Builder/Vendor relationships.

• Educate Builder Network and Field Sales on the effective use of the in-house pricing tool.

• Coordinate with Builders, Sales, Customer Service, and Engineering regarding project scope and design intent.

• Independently perform and/or review complex estimates.

• Enhance productivity, accuracy, and overall capability.

• Broaden engineering knowledge towards acquiring and maintaining a Professional Engineering License.

• Review Estimator design work.

• Train and guide less experienced Sales Engineers and Estimators.

• Provide initial designs for Requests for Building Modifications.

• Act as an engineering advisor representing the company in sales meetings.

• Report directly to the Estimating Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Capability to manage and prioritize various workflows simultaneously.

• Proficient in effective communication through written and verbal channels.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.

• Comfortable engaging in phone communications with customers and Field Sales.

• Competence in in-house design programs and processes.

• Knowledge of PEMB products and design considerations.

• Ability to work with minimal supervision and oversee projects to ensure timely completion.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in metal building design or a related field for Level I.

• Bachelor's degree in civil or architectural engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with a focus on structural design, or equivalent work experience.

• Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.

• AutoCAD experience is preferred.

• A Licensed Professional Engineer is required for Level I and Level III; preferred for Level II.

• At least 4 years of experience in metal building design or a related field for Level II.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in metal building design or a related field for Level I and Level III.

• Advanced PEMB knowledge is required for Level II.

• Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
