This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.
• Apply civil engineering principles and methodologies to facilitate design, estimation, and communication among BCSS, builders, and brands.
• Create initial structural designs for both conventional and hybrid buildings.
• Collaborate with internal and external suppliers.
• Examine building drawings and specifications to determine the proposal scope.
• Acquire external engineering resources and supplier quotes as necessary.
• Generate estimates and prepare professional proposals.
• Engage with BCSS management and brand sales teams to formulate sales strategies, establish margin levels, and promote BCSS.
• Interact with customers to clarify building requirements and confirm proposal delivery timelines.
• Create or oversee preliminary structural designs utilizing conventional steel and PEMB design tools.
• Incorporate proposal drawings and reactions as necessary.
• Deliver sales revenue that meets or exceeds projected sales and margin revenue.
• Assist Butler and Varco Pruden sales teams with sales and project-focused initiatives.
• Attend necessary in-person or virtual coordination meetings.
• Travel nationally up to 5% of the time.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of five years of experience within the construction sector.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• At least three years of experience in the structural design of conventional and steel buildings.
• Two years of experience in proposals, estimating, or sales.
• Familiarity with building codes and steel product codes, including IBC, ASCE, AISC CFE2008, SJI, SDI, REP2014, and NSR-10.
• Proficient in using estimating and design spreadsheets.
• Experience in drafting proposal letters.
• Knowledge of building design and relevant software applications.
• Ability to apply civil/structural engineering principles and theories to ensure the structural safety of steel building projects.
• Experience in utilizing engineering science and technology for the design and production of steel building projects.
• Capability to interpret information from other engineers and integrate it into technical drawings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in delivering client presentations.
• Ability to work remotely from Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, or Wisconsin.
