Sales and Delivery Architect, Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee database implementation projects throughout the entire development life cycle.

• Direct solution architecture, design, development, testing, and deployment processes.

• Act as a technical subject matter expert for client solutions.

• Lead pre-sales technical engagements, including workshops, architecture reviews, assessments, and proofs of concept.

• Create business cases and proposal content that quantify the value of data platform initiatives and Databricks projects.

• Establish and nurture relationships with technical decision-makers while providing expert technical counsel.

• Contribute to RFP responses and enhance competitive positioning.

• Manage technical relationships with client data leadership and engineering teams.

• Deliver or oversee complex data transformation programs based on Databricks.

• Work with Solutions Architects to validate and enhance technical designs.

• Make pivotal technical decisions regarding architecture, platform configuration, data modeling, and tooling.

• Design reusable Databricks implementations, reference architectures, and accelerators.

• Conduct architecture and code reviews, along with technical assessments.

• Identify data quality issues, integration risks, and impacts on scope or schedule.

• Mentor and guide engineers while contributing to team capability enhancement.

• Maintain expertise in Databricks and advise clients on product roadmaps and emerging capabilities.

• Evaluate related data platform tools, cloud platforms, orchestration, and consumption patterns.

• Contribute to certifications, thought leadership, knowledge management, playbooks, and best-practice guides.

• Facilitate technical discovery workshops with C-suite and director-level stakeholders.

• Clarify complex architecture and data engineering decisions for non-technical audiences.

• Generate thought leadership and advisory content.

• Represent the firm in client forums, advisory boards, and steering committees.

• Utilize AI tools to streamline delivery and documentation processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in building data platform implementations on cloud data warehouses.

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Databricks.

• Proficiency in Databricks SQL, Python, DLT, Unity Catalog, or similar technologies.

• Advanced skills in SQL and Python, capable of coding production-quality data pipelines independently.

• Extensive experience in relational and lakehouse data modeling.

• Experience in designing Customer 360 and conformed data models.

• Proven track record in participating in and leading complex, multi-phase delivery programs.

• Outstanding client-facing communication skills with C-suite and technical audiences.

• Ability to establish credibility and build trust with both technical and business stakeholders.

• Familiarity with data observability, pipeline automation, and formal change control in production settings.

• Regular use of AI coding assistants like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.

• Proficient in AWS, GCP, or Azure, with working knowledge of cloud data architecture.

• Databricks Certified Data Engineer (Professional level) or Databricks Solutions Architect Certification is highly preferred.

• Active engagement in Databricks thought leadership is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with Databricks AI capabilities, enterprise-scale governance, Unity Catalog, modern orchestration, pre-sales/discovery, adjacent platforms, and mentoring is strongly preferred.
