Retirement Plan Operations Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +13 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with clients to gather essential information for annual reporting.

• Assess client-submitted documents for accuracy and completeness.

• Reconcile plans that involve rollovers and stock using Excel and administration software.

• Utilize administration software to conduct 401(k) testing and reporting.

• Make reminder calls and send emails to clients throughout the plan-year reporting process.

• Prepare necessary 401(k) government filings, including IRS Form 5500, utilizing filing software.

• Provide education to clients regarding the administration of their 401(k) plans and related documents.

• Communicate knowledge and simplify complex topics for better understanding.

• Train on concepts relevant to a Retirement Plan Administrator I.

• Undertake other assigned duties as needed.


⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in document review and transaction processing as part of daily job duties.

• 1 to 5 years of relevant back-office financial operations experience in benefits administration, money movement and wires, insurance claims processing, tax preparation processing, loan or mortgage document processing, or compliance and quality-control support.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is essential.

• Direct experience in retirement-plan operations, including 401(k) or IRA administration, recordkeeping, distributions and rollovers, compliance testing, or 5500 or year-end reporting, is preferred.

• Experience in reconciliation as a daily job responsibility is preferred.

• An Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field such as business or finance, or equivalent work experience, is preferred.

• Basic understanding of 401(k) plan structure, ROBS, and IRS/DOL regulations is preferred.

• A designated workspace conducive to concentration and productivity is preferred.

• Reliable high-speed internet is preferred.
