Retirement Plan Operations Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +13 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with clients to gather essential information needed for annual reporting.

• Assess client-submitted documents for accuracy and completeness.

• Reconcile plans involving only rollovers and plan stock utilizing Excel and administrative software.

• Employ administrative software to execute 401(k) testing and reporting.

• Make outgoing reminder calls and send emails to clients during the reporting process for the plan year.

• Prepare necessary 401(k) government filings, including IRS Form 5500, using filing software.

• Inform clients about 401(k) plan administration and related documents.

• Convey knowledge and simplify complex topics for better understanding.

• Provide training on concepts relevant to a Retirement Plan Administrator I.

• Execute additional duties as required.


⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in document review and transaction processing as part of daily job duties.

• 1 to 5 years of relevant back-office financial operations experience in areas such as benefits administration, money movement and wires, insurance claims processing, tax preparation processing, loan or mortgage document processing, or compliance and quality-control support.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Direct experience in retirement-plan operations, including 401(k) or IRA administration, recordkeeping, distributions and rollovers, compliance testing, or 5500 or year-end reporting, is preferred.

• Previous experience with reconciliation as a daily job responsibility is preferred.

• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business or finance, or equivalent work experience, is preferred.

• Fundamental knowledge of 401(k) plan structures, ROBS, and IRS/DOL regulations is preferred.

• A dedicated workspace conducive to concentration and productivity is preferred.

• Access to reliable high-speed internet is preferred.
