Network / Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and execute LAN/WAN infrastructure in alignment with approved project specifications

• Set up and deploy next-generation firewalls, managed switches, wireless access points, controllers, VPN solutions, and associated network hardware

• Configure VLANs, Layer 3 interfaces, DHCP relay, routing, firewall policies, WAN failover, monitoring, and network segmentation

• Manage and configure UniFi Network Controller environments alongside UniFi switching and wireless infrastructure

• Implement and verify SSL VPN and remote-access solutions

• Set up SNMP monitoring and integrate infrastructure into remote management platforms

• Conduct wireless deployments, RF configuration, SSID setup, client isolation, roaming validation, and wireless performance assessments

• Provide support for Microsoft 365 tenant configuration and migration initiatives

• Configure migration tools, source/target connections, service accounts, application consent, and identity mappings

• Assist with Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and file server migration activities

• Configure and verify Microsoft 365 domains, DNS records, mail flow, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC

• Implement Microsoft 365 Conditional Access and multifactor authentication setups

• Aid in Microsoft Authenticator enrollment and user validation

• Conduct migration reconciliation, exception analysis, and post-migration assessments

• Pre-stage equipment, firmware, configurations, and migration environments prior to production changes

• Execute network and infrastructure cutovers during authorized maintenance periods

• Decommission and replace legacy infrastructure in an orderly fashion

• Validate connectivity, routing, authentication, applications, wireless, voice, backups, monitoring, and other in-scope services post-implementation

• Troubleshoot implementation challenges and assess if they are within the approved scope

• Support rollback procedures as necessary

• Maintain network diagrams, IP inventories, VLAN documentation, switch port maps, wireless information, configuration records, and equipment inventories

• Document migration outcomes, exceptions, validation results, and final configurations

• Archive relevant legacy configurations and document replaced equipment

• Prepare technical handoff documentation for the support team

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven professional experience in network or systems engineering

• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DHCP, DNS, and network troubleshooting

• Experience in configuring managed network switches and firewalls

• Familiarity with wireless networking and access point deployments

• Ability to independently troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues

• Experience executing production cutovers and maintenance window tasks

• Strong documentation and technical communication abilities

• Capable of working directly with clients and clearly conveying technical issues

• Ability to adhere to defined project scopes, implementation plans, and change-control procedures

• Preferred experience with Ubiquiti UniFi networking equipment and UniFi Network Controller

• Preferred experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Microsoft Entra

• Preferred experience with Conditional Access and MFA

• Preferred experience with network monitoring and SNMP

• Preferred experience with cloud-to-cloud and file server migrations

• Preferred experience with VPN technologies and WAN failover

• Preferred experience with wireless heatmap surveys and RF optimization

• Preferred experience in supporting low-voltage/network infrastructure deployments

• Relevant networking or Microsoft certifications are preferred
