This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +3 more locations.
β’ Provide support to a group of SPAR mentors throughout each fellowship cycle.
β’ Act as the primary contact and engage with mentors on a regular basis.
β’ Assist mentors in defining project scopes, setting expectations with mentees, and ensuring teams remain focused.
β’ Guide first-time mentors on conducting effective meetings, giving constructive feedback, and managing mentees with diverse experience levels.
β’ Address team disputes, absentee mentee situations, and disruptions in mentor relationships.
β’ Counsel mentors on disseminating research outputs, including appropriate publications, workshops, and conference opportunities.
β’ Participate in mentor recruitment, onboarding, and support activities.
β’ Aid in enhancing research quality across SPAR as it expands.
β’ Collaborate closely with SPARβs program lead.
β’ Travel 3β6 times annually for conferences and events, primarily within the US.
β’ Significant research experience, such as a PhD, a research position, or multiple completed projects.
β’ Strong interpersonal skills for managing sensitive discussions.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
β’ Exceptional organizational skills with the capability to monitor commitments and adhere to deadlines.
β’ Familiarity with the AI safety landscape and key research agendas.
β’ Capacity to engage with both technical and policy-oriented research.
β’ Alignment with the mission to mitigate risks associated with advanced AI.
β’ Experience in mentoring or overseeing junior researchers is appreciated but not mandatory.
β’ Publications in ML conferences or AI policy forums are valued but not required.
β’ Research experience in AI safety or AI governance is advantageous but not essential.
β’ Availability to attend meetings in the ET time zone is preferred.
β’ Visa sponsorship may be available for US visas and likely for UK visas, though approvals are not guaranteed.
