Research Director – Emergency Cash

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take charge of GiveDirectly’s research and learning strategy for Emergency Cash Programs and emerging topics.

• Identify and prioritize impactful learning questions aligned with organization-wide objectives.

• Oversee strategic impact evaluations and research focused on impact across various countries.

• Build research partnerships and make decisions regarding resource allocation.

• Establish benchmarks for data collection, quality assurance, analysis, ethics, and compliance.

• Create and enhance policies and systems for data sharing, human subject protections, and transparency.

• Promote evidence-based decision-making within Emergency Cash teams.

• Provide guidance to RME leadership on research strategy and capacity building.

• Test and improve new research methodologies and disseminate insights throughout the organization.

• Manage outcome-oriented indicators and measurement standards.

• Lead strategic research initiatives and oversee partnerships or contracts.

• Mentor Research Managers and staff within the Emergency Cash team.

• Represent GiveDirectly’s Emergency Cash research in external settings.

• Write research briefs, policy papers, and submissions.

• Collaborate with Partnerships to establish Emergency Cash work as credible and evidence-based.

• Proficiency in Emergency Cash research strategies and methodologies.

• Proven experience in managing strategic impact evaluations and research focused on impact in multiple countries.

• Capability to develop research concepts and foster research partnerships.

• Competence in establishing standards and systems for best practices in research.

• Understanding of data collection methods, quality checks, and research analysis.

• Familiarity with data sharing protocols, human subject protections, and data transparency regulations.

• Skill in developing outcome-focused indicators based on theories of change and research findings.

• Experience in overseeing research partnerships or contracts from start to finish.

• Ability to write and co-write research briefs, policy documents, and submissions.

• Proficient in negotiating with leaders in fundraising, partnerships, product development, programs, and communications.

• Capability to represent research at a leadership level and during high-stakes events.

• Ability to mentor research personnel and Research Managers.
