This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.
β’ Assist in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of the service provider network.
β’ Set up and activate new fiber access sites and customer services.
β’ Configure and test services that are customer-facing.
β’ Implement approved network modifications while minimizing risk and reducing downtime.
β’ Document changes made and verify post-change success criteria.
β’ Address NOC escalations and troubleshoot issues related to Layer 2/Layer 3 networks.
β’ Act as an escalation point for trouble tickets that require engineering expertise.
β’ Maintain network diagrams, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
β’ Monitor the health of the network and proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
β’ Collaborate with Sales Engineering and Project Management to provide enterprise/E-Rate solutions.
β’ Work together with Tier 2/3 engineers on complex issues and projects.
β’ Bachelor's Degree.
β’ Experience with routing and switching, preferably with Juniper.
β’ Knowledge of VLAN Trunking, Q-in-Q, and tunneling.
β’ Hands-on experience with GPON and fiber installations is advantageous.
β’ Juniper JNCIA-Junos or JNCIS-SP certification (or equivalent experience) is preferred.
β’ Familiarity with Microtik, Adtran, and ADVA platforms.
β’ Understanding of BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, and VPLS.
β’ Strong troubleshooting capabilities and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
β’ Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
β’ Optional Work from Home.
β’ Minimal travel percentage.
