Registered Nurse – TeleNurse

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Assess incoming patient calls utilizing all stages of the Nursing Process.

• Provide telephone advice in a calm and effective manner.

• Recognize life-threatening emergencies and suggest appropriate actions, including ambulance services.

• Evaluate and triage patients over the phone, applying knowledge of disease processes and pathophysiology.

• Conduct data entry and document significant health histories of callers.

• Prioritize, delegate, and oversee incoming call acuity alongside assigned staff responsibilities.

• Refer cases that necessitate physician intervention and guide callers to the suitable level of care.

• Arrange patient appointments following established protocols.

• Utilize medical resources to develop patient care plans.

• Provide counseling and education to patients and callers.

• Record calls and maintain statistical information.

• Report to the TeleNurse Supervisor/Manager.

• Uphold confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, incident reporting, training, and customer service standards.

• Participate in department meetings and mandatory in-services at Springfield Clinic.

• Work efficiently with minimal supervision.

⛳️ Requirements

• Registered Nurse, graduated from an accredited nursing school.

• Valid Illinois RN licensure / RN License.

• At least three years of clinical experience in an acute ambulatory or acute care environment.

• Experience in Emergency Room or Home Health preferred.

• Must reside within a 100-mile radius of Springfield, IL.

• Availability to work every other weekend and 4–5 of the 9 recognized Springfield Clinic holidays each year.

• Basic typing skills at a minimum of 40 words per minute.

• Intermediate computer proficiency and comfort with Windows operating systems.

• Clear and pleasant telephone communication skills.

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.

• Practices independent nursing in alignment with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.

• Must provide one month’s notice for resignation.
