Registered Nurse – TeleNurse

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Manage and prioritize incoming patient calls.

• Implement all stages of the Nursing Process during patient triage.

• Deliver calm and effective advice over the phone.

• Recognize life-threatening situations and suggest appropriate actions, including ambulance services.

• Conduct initial assessments and triage patients through telephone conversations.

• Enter data and document significant health histories of callers.

• Prioritize and delegate tasks while managing the acuity of incoming patient calls and assigned staff duties.

• Refer matters requiring physician attention to the On Call Physician or primary care physician.

• Guide callers to the right level of care, including emergency rooms, office visits, or self-care options.

• Arrange patient appointments following established guidelines.

• Utilize medical resources to develop patient care plans.

• Provide counseling and education to patients and callers.

• Log calls and maintain statistical information.

• Ensure confidentiality and operate effectively with minimal supervision.

• Participate in educational programs, current journal reviews, department meetings, and mandatory in-services at Springfield Clinic.

• Adhere to incident reporting, OSHA regulations, and Springfield Clinic policies and training.

• Deliver exceptional customer service in line with the SC Way philosophy.

• Report directly to the TeleNurse Supervisor/Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN), graduate from an accredited nursing school with current Illinois RN licensure.

• At least three years of clinical experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.

• Basic typing skills of 40 words per minute or higher.

• Intermediate computer proficiency and familiarity with Windows operating systems.

• Pleasant and clear telephone communication skills.

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.

• Practices independent nursing in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.

• Valid RN License.

• Must provide a one (1) month notice of resignation.

• Availability to work every other weekend and 4-5 out of 9 recognized Springfield Clinic holidays each year.

• Requirement to reside within a 100-mile radius of Springfield, IL.

• Experience in Emergency Room or Home Health settings is preferred.
