• Oversee scientific governance for the most intricate or high-risk epidemiology initiatives.
• Assist in nurturing key strategic client relationships and pursuits.
• Cultivate senior leadership within the field of epidemiology.
• Direct methods, quality, talent, and service priorities in epidemiology.
• Collaborate with leaders across Fortrea Consulting and the broader enterprise on epidemiology, RWE, and Consulting initiatives.
• Contribute to the growth strategy of epidemiology and lead selected focal areas.
• Sponsor or provide senior scientific approval for key high-value epidemiology endeavors and client partnerships.
• Offer epidemiology insights into commercial priorities, opportunity pipeline evaluations, and key account prospects.
• Develop external scientific relationships and alliances.
• Influence scientific direction and the capability roadmap for epidemiology.
• Manage priorities concerning methods, technology, data partnerships, talent, quality, and scalable service delivery.
• Establish governance for scientific standards, review processes, risk escalation, reproducibility, transparency, and regulatory preparedness.
• Shape Fortrea's external scientific voice through thought leadership and professional engagement.
• Contribute epidemiology expertise to integrated evidence strategies and delivery frameworks.
• Act as a senior scientific sponsor for selected complex or high-risk epidemiology projects.
• Ensure epidemiology strategies and outputs adhere to standards of credibility, relevance, transparency, and defensibility.
• Advise senior client stakeholders on epidemiology and RWE strategy, evidence gaps, and implications for regulations, payers, or HTA.
• Provide senior epidemiology escalation and decision support for scientific, quality, delivery, financial, and relational risks.
• Ensure the appropriate application of epidemiological and causal-inference methods, natural history studies, external control arms, time-to-event methods, and regulatory frameworks.
• Lead senior epidemiology leaders and oversee leadership development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.
• Manage workforce planning, senior hiring, promotions, performance evaluations, and deployment strategies.
• Foster an inclusive and accountable culture within epidemiology.
• Exemplify Fortrea's culture, business ethics, scientific integrity, and responsible decision-making.
• Perform additional duties as required or assigned.
• Doctoral-level degree in a relevant field such as epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, public health, or related quantitative health sciences; Fortrea may consider a graduate-level degree (e.g., MS/MPH) with pertinent and equivalent experience and successful project outcomes instead of educational prerequisites.
• Established scientific and strategic leadership in epidemiology and RWE, comprising advanced methodologies, regulatory-grade evidence, program governance, and capability enhancement.
• Proven track record in strengthening an epidemiology capability, overseeing complex program portfolios, or managing strategic client relationships while maintaining scientific quality and client trust.
• Demonstrated success in developing senior scientific leaders and guiding multidisciplinary teams through periods of growth and change.
• Exceptional communication, judgment, influence, and relationship-building skills at the senior level across scientific, commercial, and client stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of epidemiological guidelines, including STROBE/RECORD and ISPE/ENCePP.
• In-depth knowledge of major regulatory RWE principles, including the FDA RWE Framework, ICH E6(R3), and ICH M14.
• 15 years of relevant work experience, or a doctoral-level degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience.
• Extensive leadership experience with complex portfolios, significant client relationships, business growth, scientific strategy, and senior leadership roles.
• A decade of experience leading cross-functional teams and mentoring staff.
• Practical experience utilizing secondary real-world data sources, such as claims, EHR, and registries.
• Experience representing an epidemiology or RWE capability to senior clients, regulatory bodies, payers, HTA, industry stakeholders, and scientific communities.
• Successful background in external control arms/synthetic controls, natural history studies, and HEOR deliverables.
• Proven success in initiating or expanding strategic client relationships and multidisciplinary programs.
• History of creating new offerings, markets, partnerships, or delivery models that have a measurable impact on the organization.
• Experience in shaping strategy for an epidemiology or RWE capability while integrating scientific, commercial, personnel, technology, quality, and delivery priorities.
• Acknowledged external influence through scientific leadership, professional organizations, guidance development, publications, or senior advisory roles.
• Ability to challenge conventional thinking to address client challenges and formulate solutions.
