Registered Nurse – TeleNurse

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Manage incoming patient calls by implementing all stages of the Nursing Process.

• Deliver calm and effective telephone guidance while recognizing life-threatening situations.

• Suggest interventions, including arranging for ambulance transport.

• Perform initial assessments and triage patients by applying knowledge of disease processes and pathophysiology.

• Enter data during calls and document significant health histories of callers.

• Prioritize, delegate, and oversee incoming call acuity along with assigned staff responsibilities.

• Direct cases that need physician intervention to the on-call or primary care physician.

• Guide callers to suitable care options, including emergency rooms, office visits, or self-care.

• Schedule patient appointments in accordance with established guidelines.

• Utilize medical resources to develop patient care plans.

• Provide counseling and education to patients and callers.

• Record calls and maintain requested statistical information.

• Operate effectively with minimal supervision while upholding confidentiality.

• Participate in department meetings, mandatory in-services, and educational programs.

• Adhere to incident reporting, OSHA, and Springfield Clinic policies and training.

• Deliver outstanding customer service aligned with the SC Way philosophy.

• Report to the TeleNurse Supervisor/Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Registered Nurse with graduation from an accredited nursing school and current Illinois RN licensure.

• At least three years of clinical experience in an acute ambulatory or acute care environment.

• Prior experience in Emergency Room or Home Health preferred.

• Active RN license required.

• Must provide a one (1) month resignation notice.

• Availability to work every other weekend and 4-5 out of 9 recognized holidays at Springfield Clinic each year.

• Must reside within a 100-mile radius of Springfield, IL.

• Basic typing skills of 40 words per minute or higher.

• Intermediate computer proficiency and comfort with Windows operating systems.

• Pleasant and clear telephone voice.

• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.

• Practices independent nursing in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
