Regional Underwriting Counsel, Florida

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Lead and supervise a team of underwriting counsels.

• Offer underwriting guidance to maintain consistent risk assessment and decision-making.

• Evaluate title insurance risks, underwriting challenges, and regulatory issues.

• Deliver underwriting solutions to agents, the sales team, and title examiners, adhering to company policies and local, state, and federal regulations.

• Underwrite both residential and commercial transactions.

• Conduct training seminars for title agents and production staff, both online and in person.

• Provide exceptional customer service while making well-informed underwriting decisions.

• Manage a high volume of underwriting inquiries through email and phone promptly, responsively, and professionally.

• Assess and reply to indemnity requests.

• Travel with the sales team for agent meetings across the state.

• Collaborate effectively within a remote team setting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required.

• At least 5 years of experience focused on Florida real property and title insurance.

• Must maintain membership in good standing with the Florida Bar.

• In-depth knowledge of Florida real property law and related fields applicable to real estate transactions.

• Familiarity with the Florida title insurance sector.

• Strong oral and written communication abilities.

• Skills in relationship building.

• Competency in problem-solving.

• Proficient decision-making skills.

• Capacity to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw logical conclusions.

• Ability to tackle practical issues and manage a variety of concrete variables with limited standardization.

• Capability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions.

• Strong ability to work efficiently in a remote team environment.

• Willingness to travel throughout Florida with sales personnel for agent meetings.

• Capacity to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
