This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Forge partnerships with regional independent accounts to meet sales targets and objectives for all SMG products.
• Create and implement business plans for each assigned account to stimulate growth.
• Negotiate promotions, optimize return on investment for trade funds, enhance logistics efficiency, and explore online customer opportunities.
• Oversee territory trade and sales budgets.
• Propel in-store sales in alignment with the objectives of the sales and marketing teams.
• Cultivate relationships with key customers and obtain additional display space for Scotts brands.
• Manage monthly forecasts for customers.
• Build robust internal and external relationships.
• Prepare and present business opportunities and execute sales plans with customers, including during quarterly business reviews and line reviews.
• Formulate sales strategies based on marketing initiatives, product expertise, and local market dynamics.
• Collaborate with distribution network customers to meet sales and visitation goals.
• Secure pre-book orders from independent garden centers and distributors.
• Postsecondary education or equivalent field sales experience.
• Five (5) years of experience in field sales and merchandising.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills for engaging with customers and potential partners.
• Proficient in negotiating and persuading others.
• Excellent sales presentation skills, with the capability to address large groups.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to identify and address issues to determine suitable resolutions.
• Strong organizational skills and follow-up capabilities.
• Capability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
• Effective time management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
• Availability for regular travel throughout the territory, including by car or plane, and overnight stays.
• Valid driver’s license for the specified territory or territories.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Standard 37.5-hour workweek.
• Provision of a suitable workspace for remote work.
