This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +7 more states.
• Oversee and lead Valmont’s network of independent sales representatives for the lighting and transportation product line throughout the Southern United States.
• Achieve profitable revenue growth by implementing regional strategies, optimizing sales channels, and expanding customer relationships.
• Create and implement territory and account strategies for the Transportation/DOT, Municipal, and Utility Lighting sectors.
• Mentor and develop sales representatives to enhance pipeline management, conversion rates, and overall effectiveness.
• Assess and adjust representative coverage to maximize market opportunities.
• Deliver forecasting, provide pipeline visibility, and share market intelligence.
• Cultivate relationships with customers, specifiers, and key decision-makers.
• Facilitate specification activities, bid participation, and project conversions.
• Collaborate with product management, operations, and pricing teams to address customer needs and achieve business goals.
• Offer market and customer insights to influence product development.
• Assist with the introduction of new products and channel adoption.
• Represent the company at sales meetings, customer engagements, and industry events.
• Act as the primary commercial leader and point of contact for key regional accounts.
• Drive new business development and enhance existing relationships.
• Manage territory forecasting, pricing strategies, and quote execution.
• Lead the development of opportunities and proposals, including segmentation, stakeholder mapping, and win strategies.
• Oversee relationships with independent sales representatives, including goal setting, performance management, and strategic alignment.
• Address conflicts among customers, representatives, and internal stakeholders.
• Identify cross-selling opportunities across the product portfolio.
• Organize and deliver training initiatives for representatives.
• Perform pre-bid and post-bid analyses.
• Create and maintain quarterly territory and account plans.
• Utilize CRM and sales analytics tools to monitor pipeline health and enhance forecast accuracy.
• Preferred Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience in sales or sales management with increasing territory/account responsibility; or an Associate’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; or 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven track record in managing independent sales representatives (agent networks).
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing territory and account growth strategies.
• Experience in value-based selling and specification-driven sales environments.
• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex negotiations and achieve favorable business outcomes.
• Solid business acumen with the ability to balance customer needs with company objectives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to diverse audiences.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• High standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability for results.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% domestically and maintain a valid U.S. driver’s license.
• 10+ years of sales or sales management experience.
• Strong understanding of the lighting and transportation market, specification processes, and distribution channels.
• Established relationships within the DOT, municipal, and utility market segments.
• Experience collaborating with contractors, engineers, specifiers, and other key influencers.
• Background in infrastructure-related or specification-driven product categories.
• Proven success in increasing market share through independent sales representative (agent) channels.
