This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead a team of sales professionals in the Metal Solutions business unit, serving Robertson customers across Canada and the USA.
• Implement sales strategies aimed at increasing market share in Complex Metal Buildings, Simple Metal Buildings, and Commercial Components.
• Collaborate closely with functional support teams to deliver on the customer-experience value proposition.
• Work alongside Sales, Estimating, Engineering, Business Development, Marketing, Sourcing/Procurement, Sales Operations, Vendor Relations, and executive leadership.
• Mentor, develop, and train the Robertson sales teams, enhancing their professionalism and growth.
• Formulate and execute sales strategies, consult with target customers to understand their needs, and identify appropriate products, equipment, or services.
• Organize and manage the schedules, territories, and performance of sales professionals.
• Collaborate with business leaders in the US and Canada, maintaining a close relationship with the President of the Canadian business segment.
• Implement pricing strategies in coordination with the pricing team to achieve profitability targets while ensuring volume growth.
• Create, maintain, and analyze sales scorecards and KPIs, including backlog, bid activity, product type, profit, revenue, win/loss rate, and lead conversion.
• Generate and present insights for Monthly Operating Reviews and other presentations.
• Partner with the plant network to enhance customer experience, drive volume growth, and increase revenue.
• Identify operational barriers, resource requirements, and growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with the VP of Sales to pinpoint M&A targets and devise integration strategies.
• Work with Marketing on branding and product placement for local markets and digital platforms.
• Facilitate integration and act as a cultural ambassador during expansive M&A activities.
• Represent the company at industry organizations and trade associations/events as necessary.
• Address customer quality issues by coordinating with Field Services, plants, and branches, and tackle root causes.
• Undertake additional activities and projects as assigned or required.
• Must be a data-driven, analytical thinker capable of managing multiple data streams while balancing near-term market demands with long-term strategic planning.
• Proven experience in leadership, influence, and collaboration within a matrixed organization.
• Strong grasp of sales and building materials economic drivers, with the ability to translate insights into tangible results.
• Must be open to engaging in professionally challenging conversations that are constructive rather than destructive.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and spend time at the Robertson office in Brantford, ON.
• Self-motivated individual who demonstrates urgency and consideration in their actions.
• Experienced negotiator.
• Proficient in CRM systems, with a preference for Microsoft Dynamics.
• Highly skilled in building and interpreting analytics models to derive insights and inform actions.
• Capable of managing and executing multiple projects concurrently without compromising quality.
• Highly accountable to various stakeholders.
• Adept at simplifying complex concepts and influencing in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
• Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Results-oriented with a proven ability to lead and mentor a high-performing team.
• Over 10 years of sales experience, including a minimum of 5 years in sales leadership or general management, preferably in building products.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• MBA or equivalent degree preferred.
• Possess executive presence, demonstrating confidence and assertiveness in sharing ideas and taking actions.
• Critical and strategic thinker capable of managing both broad visions and detailed tasks.
• Proven ability to drive and influence organizational change within cross-functional teams.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the capability to prioritize and execute tasks in a timely manner.
• Excellent presentation skills, with experience in conveying pricing concepts and data clearly.
