This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.
• Compile reports and suggest procedures to enhance organizational performance.
• Supervise the integrity and quality of safety protocols across individual profit centers within the designated geographical region.
• Perform safety compliance inspections and audits at profit centers, focusing on employee training, regulatory compliance of facilities, vehicle fleet/DOT compliance, and compliance of shop and equipment rental fleets.
• Collaborate with Profit Center Managers to designate the appropriate Safety Coordinator.
• Offer training and support to Safety Coordinators regarding policies and procedures.
• Identify deficiencies during inspections and provide written evaluations with necessary corrective action requirements.
• Provide ongoing safety training modules to employees.
• Assist Safety Coordinators with required training, coordination of safety meetings, and upkeep of the Safety Training & Documentation Manual.
• Monitor and analyze profit centers to assess compliance with the Leading Indicator Program and identify areas for improvement.
• Create an annual strategic SH&E Business Plan in collaboration with the Regional Vice President.
• Distribute weekly regional reports detailing injuries, VIRs, near misses, and trends.
• Facilitate monthly phone calls with Safety Coordinators.
• Design and lead the annual regional Safety Coordinator Boot Camp.
• Train and supervise staff on Sunbelt Rentals Behavior-Based Safety Tools.
• Support investigations and reporting requirements for incidents and near misses.
• Engage in monthly safety meetings at profit centers and assist with Safety Stand Down meetings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 5 years of experience working with Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Systems and implementing safety programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for addressing individuals or groups.
• Ability to present information effectively in classroom or conference call settings.
• Capacity to develop and implement a strategic plan with measurable goals based on leading and lagging indicator performance.
• Ability to track and analyze performance across multiple locations using incident data.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Willingness to travel, including overnight stays as required.
• General understanding of OSHA regulations for construction and general industry.
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation safety protocols.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Must be able to bend, squat, crouch, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds or more as necessary for the role.
• May require extended driving periods, loading and unloading heavy equipment, and working in extreme weather conditions, including nights and weekends.
