This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Deliver field access support services and educational resources to Healthcare Professionals to enhance patient access and expedite treatment timelines.
• Engage with specialty pharmacies, closed-door pharmacies, and the Patient-Physician Services HUB partner to support marketed products.
• Develop and maintain the pharmacy distribution network by conducting vetting activities, communicating approvals and denials, and removing pharmacies as needed.
• Assist and educate HCPs regarding coverage issues, access support services, processes, forms, payer-specific coverage, and patient financial support programs.
• Act as a subject matter expert on regional and national payer coverage policies and processes.
• Collaborate with field sales, network pharmacies, market access, commercial analytics, operations, and Payer Marketing.
• Establish and nurture relationships with pharmacies, physicians, office staff, and other HCPs to address coverage challenges.
• Train and inform HCPs about payer coverage policies, documentation requirements, appeals processes, and patient assistance programs.
• Introduce and promote electronic Patient Access submission technologies such as CoverMyMeds.
• Clarify payer criteria, prior authorization, letters of medical necessity, appeals, step edits, formulary exceptions, and associated documentation requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve patient access issues through effective problem-solving.
• Identify and relay payer concerns to the National Account Directors team.
• Interact with local closed-door and long-term-care pharmacies.
• Communicate patient access opportunities and obstacles to management.
• Present payer coverage insights during internal business reviews and national/regional sales meetings.
• Conduct Patient Access workshops at POA meetings and assist with training for new hires.
• Oversee distribution-network processes, propose workflow enhancements, share best practices, and utilize end-user feedback to improve specialty distribution efficiency.
• Build and maintain the pharmacy distribution network through ongoing vetting and monitoring of pharmacy operations.
• Execute other assigned duties as needed.
• BS/BA degree in a relevant field and over 6 years of commercial experience in pharma/biotech, including at least 2 years in specialty pharmacy/market access.
• Alternatively, a Master’s degree or MBA with a minimum of 4 years of related experience.
• Alternatively, a PharmD or PhD with at least 2 years of related experience.
• Experience with specialty products; CNS experience is preferred.
• In-depth understanding of specialty pharmacies, managed care, pharmacy benefit managers, and government payers.
• Excellent knowledge of patient support programs, reimbursement assistance, financial aid, and adherence initiatives.
• Strong grasp of the prescription adjudication process.
• Capability to communicate payer coverage criteria and prior authorization protocols.
• Awareness of current issues affecting the marketplace, pharmaceutical industry, and national healthcare system.
• Willingness to travel overnight up to 60% of the time.
• Familiarity with best practices in functional disciplines and related business areas.
• Ability to enhance tools and processes within the functional domain.
• Competence to work collaboratively and lead multiple teams.
• Leadership skills, including the ability to guide lower-level and/or indirect teams.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Outstanding communication, problem-solving, analytical thinking, project management, interpersonal, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
• Capacity to manage multiple deadlines and tasks accurately and efficiently.
